What is Front Runner Tipping?

Front Runner Tipping is a free-to-play online platform where horse racing enthusiasts can test their predictive skills in Horse Racing throughout Autumn at Morphettville. Participants pick horses they think will win each race in a given Raceday and earn points based on the accuracy of their predictions.

How can I participate?

To participate, you need to create an account via the Register Now button on the login page. You must be over 18 to enter.

How do I enter tips?

Approximately 48 hours before each Raceday, a new contest will open containing all races from event included in that Raceday. To enter tips, simply select your choice for each race from the provided options. You can amend your answers up until the scheduled start time of each race.

Why could I not save my selection even though the race had not started yet?

Each race will lock out at the scheduled starting time, irrespective of whether the race begins after that time. That can mean that a race may be locked for a short period of time before the race actually begins.

I forgot to make picks for a race, will I receive any points?

If no pick is entered for a race, then no points will be awarded to the user.

My horse was scratched from a race, can I change my pick?

Yes. You are able to change your picks for a race right up until its scheduled start time. If no other pick is made following the scratching, you will receive no points.

How are points awarded?

Points are awarded based on the accuracy of your picks. Horses are worth a set number of points; the point values are based on the corresponding fixed odds starting price (x100) for your selected pick as displayed on the Sportsbet website.

Points are awarded for both Win and Place, similar to how an “each way” bet is paid out.

If a winning horse is picked, points will be awarded for both Win and Place, as per the fixed odds starting price.

If the horse picked gets a placing, then points will be awarded for Place only.

If the horse picked does not win or place, then no points will be awarded. The adjudication of horse Win and Place will be as per results on the Sportsbet website.

I did not receive points for my horse coming 2nd/3rd, why is this?

In some races where there are less horses than normal in the race, 3rd may not be considered a placing. Similarly, if the field is very small, there may be no place dividend at all which means that you can and will only score points for correctly predicting the winner. The adjudication of horse Win and Place will be as per results on the Sportsbet website.

My horse won the race, but the result was changed via a protest being upheld - do I still receive points for selecting the original winner?

All points are distributed based on the final results of a race. This means that points will only be given out after any protest is completed - upheld or dismissed.

Is there a leaderboard?

Yes, there is a leaderboard that ranks users in a given Raceday and lets you filter between each Raceday. Additionally, there is an overall leaderboard which ranks users based on their accumulative points scored in the Front Runner Tipping competition.

Are there any prizes for playing?
